ABOUT ME

Born in 1999 in northern Iran, Tina Masoumi is a documentary-inspired photographer based in Marseille, France. Her passion for visual storytelling began in high school, where she earned a diploma in cinema studies. Due to political circumstances, she was unable to continue her education in Iran. She moved to France in early 2023, turning to photography as a means of self-expression and navigating displacement.

Her ongoing project A Home Made of Us began after she moved to France. It started with self-portraits in her solitude and gradually expands to include portraits of her growing community of women in diaspora in Marseille, exploring how shared experiences and sisterhood help shape a sense of home. She also works with drag queens in Marseille, documenting their personal lives and friendships, reflecting her broader interest in communities that create spaces of solidarity and belonging.

Tina has exhibited multiple times, both individually and with SOLAR, a collective of women photographers she co-founded in Marseille. She has received scholarships from the Penumbra Foundation’s Long Term Photobook Program in New Yorke and the Magnum Photos Workshop with Newsha Tavakolian, and in 2025 was awarded the UPP Prize in Paris.
